“You're going to think I'm being corny, but this is how I really feel: I hope my family and my friends will be able to say that I was an honest, kind and fairly decent man.”- John Wayne

October 6th:  I find it amazing, overwhelming and delightful that so many people read this blog on a regular basis. My dad told me today how many people let him know that they read the blog. I get texts daily about the blog and how much people love the pictures and the blog. For all those who read this and have offered encouraging words Thank you greatly.

Today Duke was in a great mood and his number showed it, his CO2 improved through the day. He was alert when we came in today, which is always a wonderful way to start your time with him. Candi got to spend time with Duke today and he played ventriloquist to Duke’s puppet. She thought it was funny at first, as did I, but Duke then tensed up his lip and play time was over. The pictures today were taken by Candice (except the ones of her) which explains why the picture look amazing today.

Doctor’s rounds were informative today. Duke’s room was moved again because he is more susceptible to staff infections and there are some infections going around the NICU. Some kids do not react the same to medication for staff infections and require a different strand of medication to get better from them…my kid is one of them. This does not mean Duke has a staff infection, and the doctors have moved him to ensure he avoids getting one. They have also started Duke on Zantac to help with some reflux he has with eating, another common thing for babies, which will allow him to eat better and ensure the proper amount of oxygen get to him while eating.

**Thank you to Cindy Yeager for dinner tonight. Rockey and Tank killed the soup quicker than the adults tonight, so yummy.**
