October 13th: With every step of progress a little bit of resources must be used. The resource today was blood. Duke has had so many blood tests for CO2 and other tests which require our precious red power source. So Duke’s hemoglobin (red blood cell) supply is low so he got a infusion of some red blood cells from the Children’s blood bank today to help the oxygen circulate through his body. He slept the rest of the day…just like every other day.
Luckily for myself, who doesn’t do well with needles (especially IV’s) Candi was there to hold Dukes hand as he got the IV as I got light headed a bit back. The phlebotomist was a mother of 6 and told me after a while this will still be hard to watch, but I will be able to watch it better with time. I’m sorry but I don’t want to get use to it.
